25th Spectrum Summit comes to a successful end with record number of participants
LS telcom AG's annual Spectrum Summit was held digitally for the first time this year - a complete success
It's done! The 25th Spectrum Summit came to a successful end today after two days filled with high-ranking speakers. The Spectrum Summit has been an annual summer event of LS telcom AG for 25 years now. While it normally draws visitors from around the world to the town of Lichtenau, home to LS telcom's headquarters and home to nearly 5,000 souls, this year's Summit was held digitally for the first time due to ongoing COVID-19 restrictions. Despite the fact that there was no need for personal contacts and direct exchange between visitors, LS telcom customers and international spectrum experts, the Digital Spectrum Summit was in no way inferior to its predecessors: With around 380 registered participants from 85 countries and thus several time zones, the digital format proved that, just like the face-to-face event, it can bring together participants from all over the world.
Over the course of two days, current developments in the telecommunications industry were the subject of live panel discussions with high-ranking speakers from regulatory authorities, network operators, science and industry, as well as the LS telcom group itself. The titles of the discussions were "The Challenge of the C-Band" (Day 1) and "5G Campus Networks - The German Approach" (Day 2). This was followed by the new "Studio Magazine" format, which offered further interesting and entertaining presentations, discussions and interviews with numerous high-profile guests around the day's topic. To cover the numerous time zones from which LS telcom customers and visitors come, there was a replay of the live session as a recording in the evening.
"We are pleased that the Digital Spectrum Summit attracted so many international experts and that even a year of Covid forced break and format change to digital did not diminish the popularity of the event. The record number of participants was only made possible by the digitalization of the event," said Roland Götz, COO and Member of the Board of LS telcom AG. "
"Of course, a digital format cannot create a comparable atmosphere and replace all the personal contacts of a live event, but it is important to see the benefits as well. We have been able to significantly increase the reach of the Spectrum Summit in terms of attendees and participating nations through digitization, and just as importantly in today's world, we have done so in an environmentally friendly and sustainable manner by virtually eliminating the burden of long, time-consuming and costly travel."
Nevertheless, LS telcom AG is now also looking forward to welcoming participants to the Spectrum Summit again next year, perhaps even as a "hybrid event"!
